BEHIND THE LENS
About Melissa Lee
I grew up in small town Mountain Lake, Minnesota. After graduating from high school I went to Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN, where I studied studio art. I graduated with my BA in Studio Art and a concentration in Photography.
The photography I do is artistic with a photojournalistic style. I love all the little details that are involved in any session or photo shoot that I do. Every shoot that I do I try to look for a new way to be creative with the subject and details.
I do photography because I love being able to be creative and do something different than sitting around trying to figure out math problems or the right chemical reactions. I like photography because I get to be creative with the way I do pictures for people who want to document special moments in their lives. Being able to help people in this way is really fun and exciting. But there is always something that is challenging to photography and working in a studio with people. You always have someone new that you have to work with; the smiles, facial expressions, height, skin color and matching it with good lighting. You can have big groups of people or just work with a single person. Either way each new person or group of people brings a new way to learning how to work with people and how to be creative with each new experience that comes your way.
